I Forgot My Swimming Trunks

Welcome to Indiana in the winter. Slush, grey skies and green bean casserole. The snowman is from the storm that blew through last weekend. He’s gone now. Two golf ball sized memorials remain in my mother’s muddy yard that’s too soggy now for outdoor joyness.

The kids are learning the fun of searching four local network TV stations received through rabbit ear antenna technology. It’s like playing charades in a foreign language that nobody speaks. C’mon, there’s no “I” in team!

The boys mounted an archeological dig in one of mom’s closets and found some old toys from my childhood. Does anybody remember Micronauts? How about Shogun Warriors? 30 years later, boys are still fascinated by giant robots. I sure hope that 30 years from now we finally have real giant robots that fight each other in major metropolitan areas with rockets and lasers coming out of their chest and fingers.
