Speechless

I'm having difficulty with words these days. It's as though all of my words have been robbed of me. I feel like I'm being stretched in so many different ways that I have no recourse but to fall at the feet of my Lord.

If you know me very well, then you know that I'm rarely in lack of something to say. That seems so far away now.

I'm writing from Boston, MA right now. I traveled here with Lou today to help spy out the land for a house of prayer. A few years ago Lou received a word from the Lord declaring, “No one is targeting false ideologies with massive prayer and fasting.” Lou has had it on his heart for some time to raise up a house of prayer that contends with the ideologies of humanism and intellectualism that have been released through the universities of New England. We stood today in front of Harvard University’s Philosophy school- the very focal point of this giant in our land. This history of this school is quite remarkable. As construction was being completed at the turn of the century the president of Harvard asked the philosophy dean what inscription he wanted on the facade. His reply was “Man is the measure of all things.” This response came at a time when humanistic thinking was ravaging the schools that had been founded as seminaries. A scaffolding was erected and the inscription began. However, when the cover came off, what was revealed was quite unexpected. The president had decided to part with the dean’s request and instead inscribed Psalm 8, “What is man that thou art mindful of him?”

That inscription stands today; it’s history and meaning quieted somehow. But we believe the demise of this giant can be found in the very thing that stares us in the face. Could it be that Psalm 8 is the stone that is to be slung deep into the forehead of this giant; the ideological center of this strongman? Beginning March 1 we are calling for college students all over the country to come to Boston during Spring Break. For 40 days we will fast and pray around the clock for breakthrough in the heavens. Day and night, night and day we will sling our stone at this forehead. It will be nothing less than an Uprising which is what it has been named. 40 days from March 1 (Ash Wednesday) to April 9 (Palm Sunday) which marks the 100-year anniversary of the Azusa Street Revival. Out of this we will launch the Justice House of Prayer Boston. Please pray as we are searching and securing a strategic location from which to mount this assault. Our sense is that Harvard has no idea what is about to erupt. We are believing for massive revival to break out here and at universities across the nation.

Come to Boston and fight the battles of the Lord.

March For Life

Let me just preface this entry by saying that I have the highest respect for the many national efforts to end abortion in America. It’s a serious issue that cannot be taken lightly at any level. That being said, today was the March For Life in DC. Our group joined with tens of thousands of other pro-lifers as we congregated on the Mall and marched to the Supreme Court. Many people carried signs with various statements, but these three took the cake. Can I actually say that they were my favorite? Somehow I feel bad acknowledging the entertainment value, but c’mon. Who shows up at an event like this with signs featuring Godzilla, Frankenstein and GI Joe’s Cobra Commander?

I have a blog?

Oh yeah, I DO have a blog. Guess I kinda forgot that for like...the last month. Much has happened recently. We enjoyed a wonderful Christmas vacation in Indiana and Tennessee. We came back to DC on January 2nd, and we immediately made a final push towards our national conference which was the 12th-16th. After that we took one day off and then began the new winter JHOP internship on Wednesday. The last few days have been jammed full of teaching sessions with Lou Engle to get the new interns up to speed. Freetime? We don't need no stinkin’ freetime!

So the conference was amazing. In addition to Lou, we had Dutch Sheets, Francis Frangipane, Che Ahn, Karen Wheaton & Chosen, Will Ford, Damon Thompson and many others. It’s always so hard to convey the weight of a gathering like this one. Suffice it to say it was amazing. Get the box set of audio CDs. They’ll be available on our website sometime in the next week.

Sorry my communication here has been so poor lately. There just hasn’t been much extra time to update. In addition to putting together the DC conference, I’m also working on our next initiative in Boston. We’re mobilizing 40 days of prayer and fasting for Harvard University and calling college-aged young people all over the nation to give their springbreak in intercession with us in Boston. Here’s a quote from Lou Engle that explains our directive:
“I believe that now is Boston’s time to raise up a house of prayer to contend for her destiny of another Great Awakening. It’s time to close the door to humanism and false ideologies that have come through the universities of New England. Let’s dig the wells of revival in Boston, and make Harvard the flashpoint to take our stand for every campus across America. We have taught our students to feast and play. Now let’s teach them to FAST and PRAY.” March 1-April 9 marks 40 days stretching from Ash Wednesday to the 100-year anniversary of the Azusa Street Revival. We’ll be holding a conference during that time on March 31-April 2. At the conclusion of the 40 days a new JHOP will be raised up to contend for the destiny of America and break the back of humanism that’s being released in universities across the nation. Dare to believe with us for massive, sweeping revival to spread across campuses all over the country.

The Fall Track for the JHOP internship officially ends tomorrow. We're sad to see some good friends leaving to pursue other things. Most of the interns are returning though. So much has happened in the last four months. Kim and I joke with each other about being here much longer than we actually have. When things move as fast as they do here, it seems like a year's worth of events get crammed into less than half the time. We feel priveleged and honored to be able to say we were here during this hour. We saw two seats of the Supreme Court open up during this track, and the battle for the latter has just begun. The battle for Alito's confirmation was accurately labeled on DrudgeReport.com "This One's Going To Be Armageddon." All previous battles have led up to this one. Time magazine recently published their "Year In Review." Life Tapers made the cut on page 72. And Nightline's presentation of JHOP was nothing less than a kiss from Heaven. We've been discussing the fact that our program was the first to air after Ted Koppel retired. Could this be a sign that God is affecting the news media? We don't know, but emails have been coming in from all over the country. People are saying everywhere that they were tremendously encouraged by the report and have renewed hope for American media. Pastors have been showing the segment to their entire congregations, and people are encouraged. This is a good time to be alive.

Kim's birthday was yesterday. As a surprise I flew her best friend Jeni Wright in for the weekend. It was a short trip but a huge surprise for Kim. They had a great time this weekend. We're traveling to Indiana and Tennessee for Christmas this year. We're looking forward to time with the family. We've missed out on that for the past eight years since we were living in Colorado. So much has changed in our lives this year. It will be good to have some family time at the end to process things.
