There must be an immediate moral outcry regarding Nancy Pelosi's comments yesterday declaring that hundreds of millions of economic stimulus dollars must be given to the abortion industry to help the economy. This story has now been the top headline on Drudge Report since shortly after midnight.
The revelation came during an exchange Sunday morning on ABC's THIS WEEK.
STEPHANOPOULOS: Hundreds of millions of dollars to expand family planning services. How is that stimulus? What's hidden in this seemingly benign language? The liberal agenda has strategically removed words like "abortion" and "choice" from much of their communications these days replacing it with phrases like "unintended pregnancies" and "family planning." Don't be fooled though. This is nothing more than Dems taking their first steps in the marching orders given by Planned Parenthood and pro-abortion leaders.
PELOSI: Well, the family planning services reduce cost. They reduce cost. The states are in terrible fiscal budget crises now and part of what we do for children's health, education and some of those elements are to help the states meet their financial needs. One of those - one of the initiatives you mentioned, the contraception, will reduce costs to the states and to the federal government.
STEPHANOPOULOS: So no apologies for that?
PELOSI: No apologies. No. we have to deal with the consequences of the downturn in our economy.
While PPFA has stopped reporting adoption referrals altogether, abortion and prenatal care continue to be reported. According to the last PPFA Annual Report, abortions are up to 289,750 in one year and prenatal care is down to only 11,058 clients in one year.
