The Axe Is Already at the Root (Lk 3:9)

During the past week something seemingly insignificant occurred in front of the Supreme Court. Most will make nothing of it. But could it be a picture of something else that’s coming soon?

The picture to the left shows two large trees that are directly in front of the Court (from overhead it looks like only one). The one on the north side was cut down because they discovered that the roots had died. They attribute the death to the recent replacement of the sidewalk where we’ve been standing to pray daily since Oct ’04 (shown by the red line).

The roots directly beneath our feet died and now a tree that once stood tall has suddenly been removed. Could God be doing the same thing with a Supreme Court Judge (see “Random Thoughts”)? Time will tell.

Ezekiel 17:24
All the trees of the field will know that I the LORD bring down the tall tree and make the low tree grow tall. I dry up the green tree and make the dry tree flourish. “I the LORD have spoken, and I will do it.”

45 Year Anniversary

On June 25, 1962 the following 22-word prayer was removed from the public school system.

“Almighty God, we acknowledge our dependence on Thee, and we beg Thy blessings upon us, our parents, our teachers and our country.”

I pray that once again a new generation of young people will usher prayer back into their schools. What if students all over the nation began to pray a new 22-word prayer in unity? A prayer of repentance, humility and longing.

“Jesus, I plead your blood over my sins and the sins of my nation. God, end abortion and send revival to America.”

Why didn't they have these when I was a kid?

Who cares. I get to play with Transformers now with my boys.
Typical conversation around the house
Son: “Dad, can you transform this for me?”
Dad: “Yes son. Yes I can.”
Son: “You’re a cool Dad.”
Dad: “Yes son. I know.”

Random Thoughts

I'd like to make some comments about some seemingly unrelated people. In recent not-so-surprising statements, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad claimed to have pushed the "countdown button" for the destruction of Israel. He also threatened that the ocean of surrounding Islamic nations would uproot Israel from the land. This comes as no surprise from someone that has promised to erase the nation of Israel from the map.

United States Supreme Court Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg and John Paul Stevens have recently reinforced their stance that they have no intention of stepping down from the court. Their seats currently represent the most liberal of the High Court’s opinions and activism from the bench.

What do these people have in common? They’re judges and kings, princes and leaders that have raised a defiant fist to the sky and claimed control of the future. All personal judgement aside, this is a distinct mark of someone that has aligned themself on the wrong side of God. The prophet Daniel saw a vision of spiritual events where "horns" were exalted in defiance of God. “He will speak against the Most High and oppress his saints and try to change the set times and the laws.” (Dan 7:25) While this passage speaks specifically of a time yet to come, it reveals this key motivation of the spiritual forces at work. The goal is to manipulate and control time and the laws. What is God’s response to that?

Psalm 75: 1-7
1 We give thanks to you, O God,
we give thanks, for your Name is near;
men tell of your wonderful deeds.
2
You say, "I choose the appointed time;
it is I who judge uprightly.
3
When the earth and all its people quake,
it is I who hold its pillars firm.
Selah
4
To the arrogant I say, 'Boast no more,'
and to the wicked, 'Do not lift up your horns.
5
Do not lift your horns against heaven;
do not speak with outstretched neck.' "
6
No one from the east or the west
or from the desert can exalt a man.
7
But it is God who judges:
He brings one down, he exalts another.

Time is in God’s hands alone. Daniel, a man who reigned in a Godless land, watched world leaders come and go over and over again. He gave praise to the Lord and said in 2: 20-22:

20 "Praise be to the name of God for ever and ever;
wisdom and power are his.
21
He changes times and seasons;
he sets up kings and deposes them.
He gives wisdom to the wise
and knowledge to the discerning.
22
He reveals deep and hidden things;
he knows what lies in darkness,
and light dwells with him.
23
I thank and praise you, O God of my fathers:
You have given me wisdom and power,
you have made known to me what we asked of you,
you have made known to us the dream of the king."

The message is clear. There is already a King of Kings that sits on Zion, the hill above all hills. He says, “Therefore, you kings, be wise; be warned, you rulers of the earth. Serve the Lord with fear and rejoice with trembling. Kiss the Son, lest he be angry and you be destroyed in your way.” (Ps 2: 6, 10-12)

Say What?

A young man in our group here that's deaf was healed in a prayer set yesterday. He can hear now.
